what is "adrenal fatigue"

What is Adrenal Burnout?

Adrenal burnout happens when your adrenal glands, which produce stress hormones like cortisol (the main one), get worn out. Cortisol is released when you’re under stress, giving you a burst of energy to deal with whatever’s causing it. Stress can come in different forms, such as:

  • Physical stress (e.g., injury or illness)
  • Emotional stress (e.g., job pressure, having a baby, or losing someone close to you)
  • Environmental stress (e.g., pollution, chemicals, or toxins in your surroundings)

There are also hidden stresses like chronic inflammation, gut issues, or food allergies.

When you're constantly stressed for a long period, your adrenal glands can become overworked. Over time, they can't keep up with the demand for cortisol, which can lead to symptoms like extreme tiredness, trouble sleeping, weight gain, irritability, and feeling like you can’t handle stress anymore.re.
